President's letter: Spring 1997

The 8th Annual AOOP Meeting, Helping Business and Psychiatry Understand Each Other, (January 17-18 in Orlando) was a success. An unprecedented degree of participation and enthusiasm was generated, with virtually the entire audience participating in a strategic planning session held at the end of the conference. The meeting received very high marks. The registration, overall organization, and presentations were highly rated.

The meeting was reported in the March issue of the Psychiatric Times, with Ron Schouten's presentation on workplace violence and Sandy Cohen's presentation on corporate/gender issues receiving very detailed coverage.

To encourage continued participation and interest, the Meeting Evaluation and Interest Survey results are available for your review.

The interest survey revealed a desire for wide diversity in future presentations, with an emphasis on corporate consultation and related activities. Your Program Committee is planning the 1998 meeting with these results in mind. Several speakers have been selected, with planning to be completed by the end of May. The meeting will be in Seattle, January 16-18, 1998 at the highly rated Four Seasons Olympic Hotel. A pre-meeting workshop scheduled for January 16 is being planned, and will be publicized.
