Annual Meetings
"From Consultation to Care:
Meeting Diverse Needs in the Modern Workplace"
See what your peers had to say about the 12th Annual Meeting of AOOP:
I attended the 2000 AOOP meeting out of curiosity about the subject matter and the possibility of networking to find some good providers in my local area. What I found was a very useful conference, which surprised me in its candor and practicality. The atmosphere was genuinely collegial with speakers and participants contributing a wealth of experience. The 2001 meeting continued in that fine tradition. Though I am an Occupational Medicine Physician, I found the subject matter to be both quite approachable and applicable to my practice. This conference concentrated on the role of the consultant to industry. I gained some new tools and a framework to better understand the organizations I serve. I will certainly be watching for the details of next year's offering.

The quality of the sessions offered at the Annual Meeting in D.C. delivers on the AOOP mission; i.e., "to enhance the knowledge and skills of its members through various training opportunities."
-- Janice Gross
How I met AOOP:
Recent changes in my practice forced me to look for a legitimate professional organization where I could have some guidance and networking. AOOP was listed on APA's Web site. I find AOOP warm and welcoming colleagues willingly sharing their knowledge and experience. I look forward to further meetings and other activities of AOOP.

This was the fourth AOOP Annual Meeting I've attended. It continues to be a wonderful opportunity to learn from the presenters but also from the keen enthusiasm of the attendees. Chat & networking is a wonderful part of these meetings. I will keep attending.
-- Dr. Sarah VanderBurgh
This AOOP meeting presented new, challenging, and informative sessions from its start Friday morning until it closed Sunday afternoon. Never before have I gone to a psychiatry meeting or conference that was as informative hour-to-hour. The pre-conference all-day workshop this year focused on independent medical (psychiatric) examinations and psychiatric disability evaluations gave everything theoretical and practical I would ever use. The spectrum of presentations at the meeting was outstanding, e.g., When Illness Strikes the Leader; Systems Consultations to Organizations; Family Therapy and Organizations; Consulting to Clergy; Executive Protection; Threat Assessment; Operational Stress for Police and Others. Well-organized, excellent facilitators. Collegiate and mentoring and networking were key aspects of this successful meeting.
-- Dr. Mark Dembert, MD, MPH
AOOP has all the elements of a great meeting:
- diverse perspectives and informative content delivered by leaders in the field
- exchange of ideas and encouragement to pursue one's goals in a warm and collegial atmosphere.
-- Dr. Debra Henry
Attending the AOOP Annual Meeting confirmed that multiple avenues for a viable solo practice exist. Thank you.
