"Challenges and Opportunities for Preventing Depression in the
Workplace: A Review of the Evidence Supporting Workplace Factors and
Interventions" by Gregory P. Couser MD MPH reviews the
current state of preventive measures for workplace depression and
suggests numerous avenues for improving individual, organizational, and

"Assessment of Occupational Impairment and Disability from
Depression" by C. Donald Williams MD and Ron
Schouten MD JD examines the relationship of impairment and
disability in the occupational context, proposes strategies for
indentifying the level of impairment present and assessing its impact on
employment, discusses selection and titration of treatment to severity
of the condition and patient characteristics, and recommends practices
that minimize the occurrence and effects of role and boundary

Physicians: Role of the Occupational Psychiatrist"), Ron Schouten JD
MD ("Workshop Violence: An Overview for Practicing Physicians"), and C Donald Williams
MD CGP ("Psychiatric Disability Assessments") contributed individually. You may contact the authors for
reprints, or access reprints on the internet through your university
affiliation.
Membership Rates
Transparency Statement: We recognize that
membership dues for AOOP are high. Dues include annual meeting
registration, one dinner, and continental breakfasts. All
officers pay for their own rooms and transportation and receive no
special consideration. No honoraria are paid to any presenters. We
do provide a limited number of scholarships for psychiatry residents
and fellows inclusive of all meeting and meal activities to further
the cause of occupational and organizational psychiatry.
The
2011 U.S. membership dues are $690 if paid by December 10, 2010 ($790 thereafter)
and are inclusive of both AOOP annual membership dues and
the
annual meeting fee (i.e., all membership and meeting fees are bundled
into the annual dues charge).
Dues for psychiatrists within the first 5
years of post residency practice are 50% of the regular membership dues;
$345 if paid by December 10, 2010 ($395 thereafter) and include all the
privileges of general membership.
Foreign colleagues (including Canadian citizens)
are welcome to join AOOP at the reduced rate of $150 per year, with the difference between
the currently applicable U.S. and foreign dues payable when our foreign
members are able to attend the annual meeting.

Bulletin
The fall edition of the
OOP Bulletin was the last printed edition and was mailed in November,
2001. The OOP Bulletin was emailed to members on a quarterly basis, but has
appeared irregularly subsequently. At present no Bulletins are
published, but most old bulletins and Presidential e-mails are available
on this website.
The AOOP website is your information and contact
center. Your officers and management representative can always be
