The November 2007 Journal of Occupational and Environmental Medicine contains an article by Munce SE et al, "The Role of Depression and Chronic Pain Conditions in Absenteeism: Results from a National Epidemiologic Survey" (pp. 1206-1211) that I recommend for its substantial data base. The November 2006 Psychiatric Annals was devoted to Occupational and Organizational Psychiatry. Jeffrey Kahn MD ("Organizational and Occupational Psychiatry: Overview and Examples"), Julia Reade MD ("Impaired Physicians: Role of the Occupational Psychiatrist"), Ron Schouten JD MD ("Workshop Violence: An Overview for Practicing Physicians"), and C Donald Williams MD CGP ("Psychiatric Disability Assessments") contributed individually. Transparency Statement: We recognize that
membership dues for AOOP are high. Dues include annual meeting
registration, one dinner, and continental breakfasts. All
officers pay for their own rooms and transportation and receive no
special consideration. No honoraria are paid to any presenters. We
do provide a limited number of scholarships for psychiatry residents
and fellows inclusive of all meeting and meal activities to further
the cause of occupational and organizational psychiatry.
The 2011 U.S. membership dues are $690 if paid by December 10, 2010 ($790 thereafter) and are inclusive of both AOOP annual membership dues and the annual meeting fee (i.e., all membership and meeting fees are bundled into the annual dues charge). Dues for psychiatrists within the first 5 years of post residency practice are 50% of the regular membership dues; $345 if paid by December 10, 2010 ($395 thereafter) and include all the privileges of general membership. Foreign colleagues (including Canadian citizens) are welcome to join AOOP at the reduced rate of $150 per year, with the difference between the currently applicable U.S. and foreign dues payable when our foreign members are able to attend the annual meeting.
